Life Lately

I am shocked that I even remember how to maneuver around this blog of mine. I've been away for a while, but I can say it's been a season of learning and growing.

1) My very last blog post was about the Nashville Rescue Mission. Well, because of the time I had spent at the mission and a combination of other events, I felt God calling me to start a ministry in my hometown. The ministry officially began in January and has already grown by leaps and bounds. My big dream is to have a ministry center one day where we are able to offer clothing, food, job services, tutoring, adult education classes, discipleship classes, Celebrate Recovery, and temporary housing. We are also focusing and raising awareness about human trafficking and child abuse. It's a big dream and will take tons of support, a large amount of time, and a lot of resources to do all this. But I have no doubt that God will provide. :)

2) I'm taking six months to a year off from dating. So instead of dating, Brenn and I adopted a dog from a local animal shelter. Her name is Skittles and I fell in love as soon as I saw her. She's about ten years old and was hit by a car. That's how the shelter found her. She is totally blind in one eye, has trouble seeing out of the other eye (she has cataracts), and has trouble hearing. She doesn't let it stop her though. The shelter worker said Skittles was overlooked many times because of her eye. We were so happy to include her in the family.

So, I got rid of a guy and adopted a dog...that was probably one of the smartest decisions I've made in years.

3) This kid is almost 15...what?! We are already getting college information in the mail. Let's just slooooow down a little PLEASE!

4) Because I have nothing else to do between working full time, trying to blog at least once every six months, running the HOPE Ministry, tending to my teenager, and trying to find time to work out, I also run a craft business on the side. I found a love of making wreaths and now sell them on Etsy. It's not a bad deal for a second job. Making wreaths is calming for me and I'm making money. Score!

5) I'm running my fifth half marathon in two weeks. After running this half, I will be sharing a post on how to finish a half with very little training...because there's been very little training done. I've gotten in long runs but nothing like I did with my last four half marathons. I wouldn't recommend doing it this way. After April 25, I will probably strongly suggest you don't train this way...

There is something I do need help with though. With this half marathon, I've committed to raise $500 for St. Jude Research Hospital and so far I've reached 42% of my goal.

Please, please, please help me reach my goal. This money is not for me. You can check out my fundraiser page here.

So, that's what's going on in my life right now.

Busy, busy, busy!
